Although this type of scene has been recorded many times over this one easily caught my eye.

The composition is relatively simple with the sun almost directly in the center of the frame, and the wood helping enough to pull the eye away before it jumps back into the bright middle. Normally center compositions dont do it for me but this one works quite well.

The scenery by itself is nothing amazing, there are some mountains in the background but they are significantly far enough away as to not be the focus of the shot. The beach is nice, but sparse.

Where this shot really shines is the colors. Even though in certain places this shot appears to be lacking contrast, it doesnt matter. The colors themselves appear to almost be bordering on oversaturated in the sky, but never quite reach that point of oversaturation and they are complemented extremely well by the more muted palette of the bottom portion of the photo.

When viewing this photo, it almost appears to be a pastel painting, and I think its a real pleasure to look at. This photo invokes some real nostalgic memories for me of vacations past and I think its a wonderful image.
